Carers in Hertfordshire is a well-respected, independent, carer-led charity that works to ensure that all Hertfordshire’s unpaid family and friend carers are recognised, valued and supported in their caring role, have the opportunity for a life outside of caring, and can exercise a collective voice in the county. Carer Engagement Worker – Learning Disabilities and Autism

Hours: 22 hours per week
Salary: £15,152.22 (£25,483.29 FTE)

There is currently an opportunity to join our Involvement team to work with carers of people with a learning disability or autism. If you enjoy working with people and are passionate about enabling them to speak up about the issues that are important to them – this is the job for you.

About you:
• Good understanding of carers’ needs.
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience of using IT packages including databases, MS office, word, excel
• Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
• Ability to work across the county to meet the needs of the service
• Ability to develop and promote positive working relationships with carers, professionals and colleagues

Head of Support Services and Finance 

Salary: £47,732 FTE (37 hours per week)
Job share will be considered.

This exciting role is responsible for the design, procurement, implementation and project management of all systems and processes that support Carers in Hertfordshire core functions, improving performance and productivity. The post holder will support the CEO in achieving and maintaining full compliance, and actively contribute to ongoing quality improvement.

The post holder will require business and financial acumen and experience to ensure that current and future operations continue to be sustainable and can evidence positive outcomes and value in the market in which we are operating, with a proven track record of managing complex operations and successfully delivering time-critical projects, ideally in not-for-profit organisations or similar. In addition, the role includes several other managerial responsibilities, including some input to central support services.

Hubs and Mentoring Coordinator

Hours: 22 per week
Salary: £15,152.22 (£25,483.29 FTE)

Are you passionate about making a difference to unpaid carers and interested in developing a career in the charity sector then why not join us at Carers in Hertfordshire? There is a current opportunity to join our Volunteer Team to coordinate our Carer Support Hub Groups which are led by volunteers and support our Volunteer Mentors. If you enjoy working with people and are passionate about reducing the isolation of unpaid carers and helping them find the support that is available – you should apply for this job.

Partnership Development Officer

Hours: 22 hours part-time
Salary: £15,152.22 (£25,483.29 full-time equivalent)

The Partnership Development Officer is a new role within the Information and Carer Planning Service at Carers in Hertfordshire. You will be part of a busy and supportive team. You will work towards increasing the identification of carers, ensuring they receive early and timely support. You will build a closer working relationship between the advice services at Carers in Hertfordshire and Hertshelp.

We are looking for a confident communicator, able to design and deliver training; someone able to identify and overcome barriers that prevent carers from accessing support and services

Youth Co-Ordinator – Young Carers

Hours: Full time (37 hours). Part time will be considered over 30 hours per week.
Salary: £21,164.26

We have two vacancies in our Young Carers Team.

Are you passionate about working with young people and would like to learn about young carers and how we support them? Get in touch!

We work with young carers to let them know they are not alone and see what support we can offer. Activities and events are organised for them to get a break from their caring role and meet other young carers. We provide training to other professionals about how they can identify and support young carers. It is a varied role where full training is provided, we ask that you are enthusiastic about working with young people and having quite good IT skills.

As a carer led organisation Carers in Hertfordshire believes that the voice of the carer is central to everything we do. You will be able to ensure young carers voices are heard at every level. You will contribute to this through supporting the work of our young carers council, encouraging feedback on support as well as regular activities.

Care Support Workers

Salary: Competitive (rate depends on the days and times worked with enhanced rates for evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays).  Full and part-time hours available.

Are you a reliable, compassionate person and want to help people with care needs stay safe and happy in their own homes if that is where they want to be? Did you want to make a difference to family members by giving them a break from caring?

If the answer to any or all of these is yes, then you may be interested in joining our Care Service as a Care Support Worker. The Service aims to provide high quality, flexible services that respond to the individual needs of carers and the people they care for.

We offer:
• Excellent hourly rates – £10.46 per hour weekday up to £13.95 per hour for Bank Holidays;
• Mileage at 40p per mile between clients homes;
• Paid holiday (based on the hours you work);
• Free uniform, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and a work mobile phone and pay for your DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check;
• Training and ongoing opportunities for career progression;
• Support from office based staff and a 24/7 on call team.

Applicants will need a full UK driving licence and use of a car. You will also have good written and verbal communication skills and a calm and caring manner.

We are particularly looking for people able to work:
• Monday to Friday from 4pm to 8.30pm to provide homecare in the Borehamwood and Bushey areas.
• Weekends (to work 8am – 12pm noon and/or 3pm to 8.30pm) to provide homecare in the Borehamwood and Bushey areas.
• Flexible, but ideally regular hours Monday to Sunday to provide Carers’ Breaks in all the areas we serve – the boroughs of Hertsmere, Three Rivers and Watford.
