Have your say

Read how our Involvement service helps you feed into other services' strategy and delivery as an unpaid carer.

We provide carers with a platform to speak up and make their voices heard on an individual and collective basis and use their experiences to help improve the services for them and the people they care for.

Our Carer Engagement Team enables carers to have their voices listened to and acted on by the health and social care services in Hertfordshire to influence change and improvement in services.

This is achieved by:

  • Supporting carers to respond to national and local consultations and to lobby on national issues as appropriate.
  • Engaging with carers to participate in the development, scrutiny and monitoring of health and social care services in Hertfordshire.
  • Supporting carers to express their views on the availability and quality of services.
  • Empowering carers to constructively challenge the impact of commissioning decisions on people with caring responsibilities and the people they look after.

The Carer Engagement Team also supports Hertfordshire commissioners within Hertfordshire County Council and the Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board, to improve the level of carer satisfaction with NHS and social care services in the county. They do this by working in partnership with carers to identify issues and unmet needs to create solutions.

Engagement Opportunities

  • Carers' Representation Group

We have a Carers Representation Group that gives carers the opportunity to discuss concerns and issues related to health and care services in Hertfordshire and their caring role. They are also informed about issues that affect them and to respond to consultations about service developments.

The Group links in with Hertfordshire County Council’s Carers’ Planning and Partnership Group that monitors and discusses services and support for carers in the county. The Group meets at least four times a year. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact us to discuss.

  • Consultations

One way carers and former carers can be involved in shaping and co-producing services is by responding to consultations. We sometimes organise our own surveys and consultations or share details of those from organisations we work closely with such as Hertfordshire County Council, NHS services in Hertfordshire, Healthwatch Hertfordshire and Carers UK. You can find out about current consultations on our campaigns, Consultations and Surveys page.
